Who We Are

We believe 'We believe Jesus Christ died (and rose again) for your sin...'"For a person to be saved, they must come to Jesus and put their full confidence in Him to forgive their sin and change their heart (1 Jn. 3:23; Lk. 18:13; Ezek. 11:19-20; Psalm 51:1-2; Matt. 5:3). It’s only when we have given our lives to Jesus Christ that we are able to truly love others with the selfless love of Christ (1 John 3:10-11). This is why our mission statement reads that we love each other ‘through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.’.

We Are: A Holiness People

We believe God has revealed who He is through the Bible. The word God uses to describe Him-self in the Bible, more than any other word, is the word ‘holiness.’ Holiness represents God’s character. He’s completely different from us in that He’s completely other-centered and we tend to be self-centered. God loves in a self-sacrificial way regardless of a person’s merit. We typically love based upon how someone treats us.

We believe God has come to remake us into His character and likeness where we’ll love others the way He’s loved us, regardless of how they treat us.

By God’s grace, God’s people are to be characterized as: Patient, Kind, Faithful, Gentle, Forgiving, and Self-controlled.

For a more detailed and practical understanding of how holiness applies to our everyday lives READ: Luke 10:25-37; Romans 12; Gal. 6:2, 9-10; Col. 3

We Are: A Missional People

God’s love for us compels us to get outside of ourselves and show His love to others. God calls His people to follow Jesus lead and humble themselves by putting others best interest ahead of their own. That means we understand that everything we have is a gift from God to be used to serve Him and others. Our health, our wealth, our talents, our time, our energy, our opportunities are all to be used to show God we’re grateful to Him for giving us life, grace, and love.

A practical example: As a Christian, our job becomes a ministry to others. We’re not to work just for the sake of money but to be a blessing to others. God calls us to do our jobs as unto Him (Col. 3:23) and not unto man. In other words, we’re to give our best even when no one is looking or giving us credit. It’s not about us as much as it is about our love for God. God wants to use our work ethic and integrity to build a good reputation for Him-self so that people will respect the Christian faith and investigate it.

We Are: A Dependent People

The two great obstacles to overcoming sin and our weaknesses are pride and unbelief.

“Faith shows itself in practice (James 2:17). God wants us to seek Him with our whole heart; learning of His will and then seeking His power to conform us to it (Jeremiah 29:13; Eph. 5:15-18).”

The reason faithfulness to a church is a mandate from God to His people is so that we have a place to learn how to love others with the love we’ve been shown. We all need each other’s different gifts and experiences to remain encouraged in the faith. The main way God expresses His love is through His people. We are to be His hands and His feet to each other (Gal. 6:2, 10). Church membership is not optional to a follower of Jesus. For a person to isolate themselves from God’s people, is to violate Christ’s command and to no longer be following Jesus (John 15:12; Gal. 6:2).
